Home Remedies for the Treatment of Dark Circles around Eyes

Dark circles under the eyes may be due to malfunctioning of the liver and constipation. Late night studies or late night working on a computer may cause dark circles around your eyes. Reduce the amount of fats in the food, also if you are suffering from constipation - deal with that first. Also do plenty of exercise and spend restful nights. The dark circles will disappear after some time.

Here are some of the Common Home Remedies for Treating Dark Circles around Eyes:

Lemon Juice and Turmeric Powder - Take one teaspoon tomato juice, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, a little gram flour (besan) and add a pinch of turmeric (haldi) powder. Mix all of the above contents properly to make a fine paste and this paste may be applied on the dark circles developed under your eyes. Leave the paste applied for 10 minutes and then wash it off.

Mint - Apply crushed mint around the eye.

Cosmetic Cotton Wool Soaked in Milk or Witch Hazel - Easier to obtain, milk is the quickest option to make dark under eye circles less apparent. Soak squares of cotton wool in a cup of (not too cold!) milk and place the squares on the closed eyes and around the eyes for at least ten minutes.

Tomato Juice, Mint and Lemon - Drink tomato juice with some mint leaves, lemon juice and salt.

Lemon and Tomato Juice - Apply a paste of lemon juice, tomato puree, orange lentil flour (masoor dal ) and turmeric powder (if you are not allergic to it) on under eye dark circles. Leave it for 15 minutes and wash it off.

Yoga - Priests say that Sarvangasana is the best yoga posture to reduce puffiness and dark circles around the eyes and should be performed daily, by those also who don't suffer from dark circles.

Drink Plenty of Water - Drink lots and lots of water and other forms of liquids in the form of juice, etc. Drinking good amount of water is beneficial for many skin ailments and also helps in lightening the dark circles under the eyes.

Vitamin E Cream - Application of cream with vitamin E and C also helps in reducing the dark circles.

Fresh Fruits - Eat lots of fresh fruits and green vegetables which are very rich in fiber. They will help you in reducing dark circles.

Raw Potato - To lighten dark circles under your eyes, wrap a grated raw potato in cheesecloth and apply to eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Wipe off residue and apply an eye cream. Results: Circles will lighten and skin tighten.

Carrot - Immerse carrot in hot water and leave it for a few minutes. Drink the liquid 3 times a day before meals.
